Hi, I’m Sonia—a product and furniture design student at the University of Plymouth. I was born in Hong Kong and am currently based in the UK, which gives me a multicultural and diverse perspective that naturally flows into my design approach.

I have a strong creative instinct that leads me to make expressive, one-of-a-kind pieces. I love designing work that holds personal meaning—something that reflects my inner thoughts and stories. I believe design is more than a finished object; it’s a process that continues into the space it lives in, creating emotion and atmosphere that connects with people on a deeper level.

Functionality is just as important to me. I aim to create designs that are not only beautiful but also useful—pieces that meet people’s needs and bring convenience and clarity to everyday life. I truly believe that thoughtful design can improve how we live, helping us feel more at peace and more connected to our surroundings.

I'm especially drawn to timeless design and sustainable materials, and I’m always curious to explore innovative ideas through hands-on experimentation. I have a keen eye for detail—particularly in texture and form—and my strong background in fine art, especially painting, adds a layer of artistic expression to my work. I love using bold colours and expressive elements that make each design feel alive.

My recent projects explore playful and interactive experiences that invite people to engage, reflect, and connect. I'm also focused on problem-solving and improving existing products in ways that are both sustainable and emotionally meaningful.

Ultimately, my goal is to create designs that bring together function, aesthetics, and storytelling—pieces that feel personal, purposeful, and lasting.
